The chinese art of wing chun kung fu is a simple, direct and highly effective form of fighting..
It requires neither great strength nor great athletic ability but instead the system uses ones own natural body structure to develop power, speed and efficiency.
The basic philosophy of the system is as follows if something requires excessive movement or effort, then it is not something we wish to waste time practicing if a more practical method exists.
It is great for both men and women.

Wing Chun was made famous by Bruce Lee. He was taught Wing Chun by Wong Shun Leung and Yip Man. At Powerarts we offer the Wong Shun leung method of wing chun.
The Instructor, Blair Johnston, began his training in Wing Chun In the early 90s under Melbourne based Sifu David Peterson.
Sifu Peterson is a leading authority of wing chun worldwide, conducting yearly seminars in the UK, America, Europe and here in Japan.
He has also written numerous articles on Wing Chun that have appeared in magazines in Australasia and around the World.

We Teach the Siu Nim Tau (SilLim Tao), Cham Kiu (Chum Kil), Biu Ji (Bil Ji), Muk Yan Jong (woodendummy), Luk Dim Boon Gwan (Six and a half point pole form), Baat Jaam Do (eight slash knife form), and street survival.

At Powerarts we believe that Wing Chun should be SIMPLE, DIRECT and EFFICIENT. To put it quite simply, if your not attacking your opponent's attack, it's not Wing Chun; if you have to think, it's already too late!
That is the essence of the "Wong Shun Leung Way" of Wing Chun Gungfu.

Who Is Wong Shun Leung?
Trained by the late Yip Man, and teacher to the great Bruce Lee, Sifu Wong Shun Leung was considered by many to be the ultimate fighter.
He tested his skills in countless encounters on the streets and roof-tops of Hong Kong during the 50s and 60s, emerging undefeated each time.
Sifu Wong almost single-handedly raised the profileof of this relatively unknown martial art, and earned himself the name "GongSau Wong" or "King of talking with the hands".
