Cutting-edge, inspirational and dynamic, our teaching methods and approach are completely unrivaled in originality, sensitivity, innovation, style and quality.

Powerarts was first opened in 2005.
The Idea of powerarts was pioneered by two Universal Studios Japan entertainers desiring a place to teach their unique and innovative art. As their idea bloomed into fruitation they opened their first academy and set about establishing their reputation for producing skilled athletes and performers.

As the original academy began to grow they realized that in order to teach a higher level of difficulty and raise the students' skill level a larger and better equipped premises was needed.

In 2009 Powerarts moved to a new 122m2 premises with a high roof perfect to teach these art forms.

Furthermore, with the support of staff and students the status of the Powerarts company changed from a limited (LTD) to a share based company, with both Blair Johnston and Yoshimi Sugimoto rising to CEO positions.

Within the first day of moving the skill level of the students increased and within a few months students were performing with more flare and of greater difficulty.

Teaching in both Japanese and English languages students come from around the world to learn, train and excel – They come from as far away as  Australia, America, Britain, Germany, France, Switzerland, Finland, Russia, Poland, India, China, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand and Brazil, and from all over Japan.

Powerarts always has an 'at home' feeling about it. There are classes for both kids and adults as well as beginner and advanced levels.  It is equipped with a dance floor, acrobatics floor, mirrors, tumbling mats, safety mats, numerous boxes, climbing ropes, bars and much more martial arts and acrobatics equipment.

Eric Sartorius - America

Training at Power Arts was a wonderful experience for me. I have been a breakdancer for 9 years, and had always been looking for new new ways to improve my dancing by looking into areas such as capoeira and gymnastics. However, most places I trained at in the past were rather close-minded to the idea of using capoiera moves outside of capoiera or doing gymnastics moves with a breakdancing form. I found it difficult to learn new styles and movements to incorporate into the way i dance. However, I later came across Power Arts and learned that they had a vast selection of areas such as acrobatics and capoiera to train in all in one studio. On top of that, I was not only able to learn about different arts, but also encouraged to try new styles and cross train between different them. I was even given suggestions in how I could fuse different styles together into my breakdancing, which is something I never could have learned from a studio that only offers gymnastics or martial arts. After training at Power Arts I found that I was not only able to incorporate all kinds of newly learned moves and styles into my dancing, but my mind was also opened to new styles such as acrobatics as well. In my 9 years as a dancer I believe I improved the most during the time that I was able to train at Power Arts.

David Chea - Australia

As a dancer, tricker and acrobat who has traveled and trained in many gyms across the world including the United States, France and Australia, the gym that I call home is PowerArts in Osaka, Japan. The three years I spent as a student training at PowerArts has become the most cherished of my experiences and memories.

The convergence of different skills, tricks, disciplines and cultures created a truly unique positive training and learning environment that can only be found at PowerArts. With the guidance of the experienced and dedicated instructors who helped push my limits, I acquired more knowledge about myself, my health and also developed a stronger mentality (fighting spirit) to set and smash goals. I am proud to be a member of the PowerArts team.

PA unites people of different age and nationalities and this creates an amazing atmosphere. People come with different levels and everybody can learn everything from the basics. It's great to see how Blair and other teachers enjoy their work. Their energy and imagination make every training fun and exciting. Blair can also handle all those restless kids and they really love him.

Oliver Maluco - France

I came to Powerarts for the first time in September 2005 and from that very first day I felt at home and have since come there thousands of times. I have moved overseas, but every time I go by Osaka I still stop and train at PA. In many aspects, training there has changed my life. The acrobatics and martial arts I have learnt there were taught in a strong and energetic yet modern and pleasant manner. The conditioning for both body and mind has allowed me to get over my fears and be able to execute acrobatics that I still perform today. Powerarts itself is a school of international culture and pretty much a second home for students. I used to go and train up to 5 times a week, with each time a 2 hour train ride. But it was well worth it. The amount of energy that radiates in PA is perfect to make progress, as each student, kid or adult, challenges each other and little by little makes everyone improve. Blair and Yoshi are also a key component to the successful recipe of PA, as they bring leadership and a lot of attention to the place, the arts and most of all the people. It's a great place to train and I have so far not found anything better. I still proudly wear my PA gear and tell everyone who asks what that place has, that is so different from a normal gym. The Powerarts soul is something that touches you and that you remember every time you tumble and flip.
